Hey, I’m Evan Schmikla — the founder of UNCONDITIONAL.

UNCONDITIONAL didn’t start in a design studio or with a dream to sell shirts — it started in the middle of my mess, when I had nothing but the love of God to hold onto.

I spent my whole life falling short, turning away from God, caught in cycles of sin, like we all are. But through it all, Jesus never stopped loving me. His love wasn’t distant or conditional, it was steady, personal, and undeserved. That kind of love changed everything. It led me straight to the heart of the gospel, and eventually, to the message behind this brand: UNCONDITIONAL.

This brand isn’t built on my strength. If I had to earn God’s love or prove myself worthy, I’d have nothing to offer. But Romans 5:8 says,

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

That verse became everything to me. In fact, it's my life verse. It showed me I didn’t have to have it all together to be loved, that Jesus went to the cross knowing every mistake I’d ever make, and still chose me. That’s what UNCONDITIONAL is about. It’s not just a clothing brand — it’s a reminder of the gospel.

Every piece we create exists to share the truth that God’s love isn’t based on what you’ve done — it’s based on who He is. No matter how far you’ve run, how many times you’ve fallen, or how broken you feel… you are still deeply loved.

UNCONDITIONAL is part of my story. It’s a daily reminder of why I follow Jesus. And if it reminds even one person that they’re not alone, that they’re seen, loved, and will never be alone, then it’s doing exactly what it was meant to do.
